P. Pandey started his carrier from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. After completing M.Tech. in 1984, followed by Ph.D. from Department of Metallurgical Engineering, IIT, BHU in 1992, he joined at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, Punjab as Lecturer, now rose to Senior Professor. He has developed expertise in the area of materials and so far supervised 56 PhDs, more than 100 PG thesis, 5 Patents with more than 30 research projects in different areas from DST, DRDO, UGC, CSIR, MOM, DietY, UGC-DAE and many more in the area of Glasses, Electrolytes, Composites, Magnetic materials, HSLA steels, Bullet proof steels, Minerals, Seedlings, Semiconductors, Energy materials, Ceramics, Nano materials, etc. So far, he has published nearly 400 papers in SCI journals and nearly 500 in conference proceedings. He has also delivered several invited talks in various National and International conferences, workshops, seminars and chaired many sessions in India and Abroad. Currently 5 PhD students are working on different topics. His students are well settled in different universities and institutions in India and Abroad. He always enjoys teaching and research. His research interests are in the areas of Undercooling, Powder Metallurgy, Rapid Solidification, Spray Deposition, Heat Treatment, Glass Ceramic, Magnetic Materials, Nanomaterials, and Composites. Dr. Piyush Sharma received his Master of Technology Degree from University Institute of Engineering and Technology (2012-2014). In his master’s thesis, he focused on enhancing the thermal stability of wood through the application of fire-resistant compounds. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, India (2015-2021). During his PhD, he was the junior research fellow for the project (based on glasses for fuel cells), awarded by Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi (2016-18). He extensively studied the differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric response to get insight about the crystallization and conductivity behaviour of the CuS modified N2S-P2S5 glasses. He is the recipient of the international travel award from Department of Science and Technology (India) and American Ceramic Society to attend international summer schools and conferences. He has also been awarded with Indian prestigious fellowship CSIR SRF DIRECT (01 May 2018- 30 April 2021) sponsored by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (India). During this tenure, he worked on the synthesis of MAX phases and studied their non-isothermal oxidation kinetics. After completing his doctorate, he joined to Virginia Tech Centre for Excellence in Emerging Materials (CEEMS) to work as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. He provided comprehensive guidance and coordination for interns, graduates, and research scholars. His ongoing research endeavours involve crafting viable substitutes for secure, cost-effective, and scalable energy storage solutions with robust power capabilities and resilience to mishandling, namely, wastewater treatment, energy conversion and storage devices. Currently, he is Assistant Professor at Division of Research and Development (DRD), Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, India. His research interests are in the areas of 2D MXenes, 2D MBenes, MAX phases, MAB phases, Electrochemistry, Photocatalysis, Thermal Oxidation, Thermal Kinetics and Heat treatment.
